  • What you really, really need to know: the message, issues, and actions for arts advocates
Assembly Parlor, in the Assembly Chambers, 2nd floor

presented by Wisconsin Assembly for Local Arts

10:15 am-12:30 pm

  • Constituent meetings with legislators: This is the main focus of Arts Day -- it's your chance to let your legislator(s) know of the many arts opportunities in your community, and ask him/her to invest in the arts. The Assembly will schedule legislator appointments unless otherwise advised by a constituent.

When meeting with your legislator, describe the impact of additional arts funds in your community. This is the most effective argument for additional support. We will have updated position statements to take to your legislators, but the most important thing is that they know what the Wisconsin Arts Board funds in their districts. Be specific. Tell stories. Bring short, simple one page descriptions of your programs. Thank legislators for their support of the arts.

12:30 pm

  • Picture time: Arts Day participants gather for a group picture!
    Capitol steps at State Street

12:45-2 pm

  • Box lunch, reporting on legislative meetings, and informal conversation for Arts Day participants and legislators
Report back on your meetings with legislators, and relax and regroup with colleagues after a good day's work!
Hearing Room 225 NW, 2nd floor

2-4 pm

  • Join the Wisconsin Assembly for Local Arts at an information-gathering, needs assessment, and brainstorming session as part of the organization's strategic planning process. Here’s your chance to tell us what you think! Click here for more info on the Assembly's planning process, and to reserve your place at this an interesting, fun, and idea-filled session.
