Sen. Shibilski, Sen. Grobschmidt, and Rep. Underheim
offer bill to strengthen Local Arts Endowment

State Sen. Kevin Shibilski, D-Stevens Point, Sen. Richard Grobschmidt, D-South Milwaukee, and Rep. Gregg Underheim, R-Oshkosh, have introduced a bill to the State Legislature to restore a 25% tax credit to the Local Arts Endowment. Read the full text of Senate Bill 265 here.

The 2001-2003 budget contained legislation creating a $50 million Local Arts Endowment to benefit the arts in Wisconsin's cities, towns and rural areas, funded through a tax credit on donations made by individuals and corporations.

This innovative legislation capitalized on the incredible boom in arts facilities and programs that's occurred across the state over the past ten years, the increased visibility and accessibility of the arts to Wisconsin's citizens, and the state's ability to effectively support arts experiences in all of its communities.
