WISCONSIN ASSEMBLY FOR LOCAL ARTS

Strategic Planning 2004

Plan updates 9-15-04

Since its beginning in 1993, the Wisconsin Assembly for Local Arts has traveled from its roots as a networking organization advancing the arts in Wisconsin and all of its communities, to its current and future position as the statewide development organization advancing Wisconsin and all of its communities through the arts.

At its ten-year mark, the Assembly will creatively lead the way at the intersection of the arts, community engagement and vitality, and innovation, in order to comprehensively serve its diverse constituency and achieve its goals. The organization pledges to remain credible, viable, and pro-active as a model for these constituents.

Therefore, with great enthusiasm and some small trepidation, we are undergoing a strategic planning process in 2004. This exciting effort will help us:

  • develop a relevant, pro-active vision and mission for the next five years
  • establish a system to constantly assess trends, issues, and needs and respond to the changing world around us
  • address the issues and socio-political trends of today’s world
  • meet the equally and rapidly changing needs and viewpoints of our members
    and constituents.

The Assembly is working with Madison-based consultant June Spencer, and creative marketing firm Good for Business, Inc., of Madison, on this process. Our planning will include…

  • a strategic external scan, gathering information on industry, funding and economic issues and trends from a wide variety of constituents and futurists, including current and past board members, current, past and potential members; governmental agencies, elected officials, and education, corporate and business leaders
  • an internal scan, with a review of mission, vision, bylaws and policies.

resulting in a plan of action to be released by October 2004, with established priorities and timelines, and recommendations on solutions, changes and actions.
